Bad Weather Warning: USA

Cold weather has taken over major parts of the Midwest and Northeast USA. It’s expected to carry on through this week. Numerous states are experiencing temperatures plummeting as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit in places such as Chicago. With this, we would like to inform our customers and clients that the USA ‘polar vortex’ is affecting flights, roads and deliveries across the country.

It has been reported by Flightaware that over 9,000 flights have been cancelled due to the extreme winter weather in the USA. Find more info at Flightaware. With this in mind this will also cause delays on air cargo.

We will keep you updated with any delays due to the weather warnings in the USA.

After twenty years as a leading freight forwarding organisation, Sandford Freight hosted a party at the glamorous Sea Containers venue, London on Friday 23rd November.

To mark this achievement, Chairman Sean Sandford and Managing Director Roy Walker wished to celebrate their lengthy and successful partnerships with various guests including clients, freight forwarding agents and the Director General of the British International Freight Association, Robert Keen.

Chairman Sean Sandford commented .“ It is wonderful to see the attendance of clients, suppliers and our global agents to celebrate our 20th birthday with us in London.  He assured all that the experienced team in Sandford Freight will be able to steer you through the years ahead whatever Brexit we get.”

Managing Director Roy Walker commented that any company “Is only as good as its staff and without them Sandford Freight would not be the success that it is. Good old fashioned customer service has been key to our continued success and this is highlighted with clients and partners who have been working with us from our first day in operation twenty years ago”.

Some of the highlights over the last 20 years for Sandford Freight include becoming members of I.A.T.A, British International Freight Association, being a founding member of three freight forwarding networking organisations and achieving certification as an authorised economic operator.

Delays at Felixstowe and Southampton

We are disappointed to notify delays at Felixstowe with no improvement. We have been advised the issues occurred with an update of the Port’s IT system.

Customers whom are using the port, please be aware:
–    Delays to unpacking vessels;
–    Delays in container accessibility and availability;

Unfortunately, we have been unable to guarantee any resolution at this moment.

Furthermore, the rerouting of ships to Southampton has produced a rise in volumes that the facility cannot cope with, and this has been evidenced by:

–      Long delays for hauliers collecting and delivering cargo amongst other issues.

Additionally, this is putting stress on all vessel routes and deliveries, so we ask that you provide at least 2 weeks’ notice of deliveries to decrease potential disappointment. Please be aware, Sandford Freight UK are working hard with shipping lines and partners to reduce disruptions and we aim to monitor the delays and provide you with any relevant updates

These delays are affecting all companies using both Felixstowe and Southampton. We take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope this situation is resolved as soon as possible.

Please contact the Sandford   Freight UK team, for any more information or questions.

Hurricane Florence

IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!

Hurricane Florence is on track to the North Carolina Coast and is predicted to produce devastation. Therefore, this may cause limited operations and in certain circumstances full closures of container freight stations in the following areas:  Charleston, Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, Norfolk, Raleigh, Richmond, Savannah and Wilmington. We anticipate carriers to have a reduce service, which will effect local deliveries.

Furthermore to the delays whilst the hurricane is in force, we anticipate a back long to operations as they recommence. We will do all conceivable to control delays to our operations. We aim your attention to this unescapable event and appreciate your patience.
